Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra was a Spanish author. He is considered the greatest writer in the Spanish language. The Spanish language is sometimes called "The language of Cervantes".
His most prominent book is Don Quixote. It is a Spanish novel of two volumes. These were published in 1605 and 1615. It is considered as one of the best fictions ever written.
The book is about a person named Mr. Alonso Quixano. He becomes so addicted to reading novels that he starts thinking himself as a Knight. Knights were like soldiers who used to protect people from oppression or injustice. But that ended a long time ago. Mr. Alonso Quixano takes the name "Don Quixote de la Mancha" as his name as a knight. He takes a simple farmer Sancho Panza as his squire or helper. Don Quixote travels different places with Sancho Panza imagining himself as a knight. This is one of the funniest books and also considered as the first novel of modern literature.
