Humayun Ahmed (1948–2012) is a Bangladeshi writer, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He wrote many fiction and nonfiction works, all of them were best-sellers. Humayun created fictional series with recurring characters like Himu, Misir Ali, and Shubhro.

Muhammed Zafar Iqbal (মুহম্মদ জাফর ইকবাল) is a Bangladeshi author and physicist. He writes mainly for children and youngsters. Most of his Children's literature is very famous. Some of his renowned works are "Kaabil Kohkafi", "Shanta Poribar", "Dipu Number Two" etc. He is one of the pioneers of science fiction in the Bengali language.

Sarat Chandra is one of the most famous writers both in Bangladesh and India. His books have been translated many times. His most popular books are Palli Samaj, Choritrohin, Devdas, Nishkriti, Datta, Srikanta, Griha Daha, Sesh Prosno and Sesher Porichoy (Incomplete).

Satyajit Ray is a famous Bengali writer. He is the author of some of the extraordinary characters of Bengali literature including Feluda - the most popular detective character in Bengali, Professor Shonku - the famous scientist and Tarini Khuro - the story-teller.

Sukumar Ray wrote mainly for children. His most important works are "Pagla Dashu" (পাগলা দাশু), "Aboltabol" (আবোলতাবোল), "HaJaBaRaLa" (হযবরল) etc.

Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay is an Indian Bengali writer and novelist. He is also known as the author of “Pather Panchali”. He wrote 16 novels and many short stories. Some of his popular books are “Pather Panchali (পথের পাঁচালি)”, “Aparajito (অপরাজিত)”, “Aranyak (আরণ্যক)”, “Ichhamati (ইছামতি)”.

He wrote several books for children. Some of his famous books are: "Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne"(Bangla: গুপী গাইন বাঘা বাইন), "Ţunţunir Boi"(Bangla:টুনটুনির বই), "Cheleder Ramayan", "Cheleder Mohabharot" etc.

Feluda Series was written by a great writer Satyajit Ray. Satyajit Ray was an Indian Bengali filmmaker, widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of the 20th century.

Professor Shonku is a series of science fiction books written by Satyajit Ray. Satyajit Ray was inspired to create “Professor Shonku” based on the characters “Professor Challenger” by Arthur Conan Doyle and “Hesoram Hushiar” by his father Sukumar Ray.

He was a pioneer of ‘Ramya Rachana’ in Bengali literature. Among them were 'Deshe Bideshe' which was based on his experience in Kabul and ‘Panchatantra’ which was based on his experience in Europe, Cairo and Baroda.
